Teaching simple math can be fun! Use these colorful worksheets to help children understand that 1 + 2 is the same thing as 2 + 1.

Sample Image - Downloadable file can be found under "Click to download the free printable(s): " at the bottom of this article.

Simple1.jpg

The top segment provides the illustration of the addition problem and the addition problem shown in numbers.

The bottom segment asks "What is missing" and the children must either draw the illustration of the addition problem or must write in the addition problem in numbers. As an example, the child must draw one apple, write a plus sign and then draw four apples, showing that all of the apples equal 5.

Make learning fun by buying six apples! Arrange the apples in the same order as the illustrations on the worksheet, and help the child visualize the math equation! Have fun arranging and re-arranging the apples in "equations"...and when you're done with the lesson, cut up a couple of apples and enjoy a healthy snack!
